Chris Wai Hang Lo

BPharm (HKU), RPh (HK)

Hi there! I am Chris Lo! I am a researcher working in statistical genetics and precision medicine. I am also a registered pharmacist by training, based in Hong Kong.

Since 2022, I joined the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN), King’s College London. My work is primarily related to the Antidepressant Medications: Biology, Exposure & Response (AMBER) Study, to study the genetics of antidepressant response using electronic health records and clinical trials.

Research Interests and Current Work

My research interests revolve around pharmacogenomics, to study how genetics affect an individual responds or getting adverse events from medications.

I am also interested in large-scale pharmacoepidemiological studies to ensure safe and appropriate use of pharmacotherapy.

These large datasets include biobanks with linked electronic health records in the UK, such as UK Biobank, Genes and Health and GLAD.

I am also involved in the Psychiatric Genomics Consortium, as part of the Treatment Response working group of the PGC. I am responsible for managing clinical trial data for the working group.

About Me

I grew up Hong Kong and graduated from the University of Hong Kong in 2021 as Bachelor in Pharmacy.

Afterwards, I received clinical training in local hospitals, and officially registered as a pharmacist in 2022.

In autumn 2022, I moved to the UK do a PhD in Statistical genetics in the Statistical Genetics Unit, at the Social, Genetic and Developmental Psychiatry Centre at King’s.
